Financial Analyst, Oshawa Power
This position was created to expedite the implementation of Jet Reports after MS Management Reporter support was phased out. Jet reports is a more robust and customizable reporting solution that piggybacks off of MS Excel. In this position, I became the SME for all software related to Planning and Reporting (Excel, VBA, SmartConnect, and Jet Reports).
Specific Contributions:
- Recreated Cashflow, Income, and Balance Sheet statements for Oshawa Power and 5 subsidiaries to replace reports that were generated by Management Reporter.
- Created and implemented a process utilizing an automated Excel Template, SmartConnect, and Great Plains unit accounts to track number of FTE's and Energy usage statistics. Not only do these processes take a minimal amount of time (<5 mins each), they are greatly beneficial for planning purposes.
- Utilized VBA to automate an Energy Retailers tracking template that included a database of completed transactions, printed out reports for AP/AR for the month and added entries to the database as they were completed. The time to complete this task went from ~3hr / month to 10 minutes in addition to removing human error.
- Created a template for the Electricity Distributors' Reporting and Record Keeping Requirements that flags items that don't pass check thresholds (ie. changes that are too drastic or are above a predetermined benchmark). This streamlines the task so that the manager can check for errors or prepare an explanation to the OEB at the time of reporting rather than going back afterwards, and re-reviewing before coming up with an explanation.
- Created many ad-hoc custom Jet reports that were formally manually compiled from Great Plains data (trial balances etc). Boosted the overall efficiency of report generation, leaving my managers with more time to work on more important tasks.

Consultant, Downtown Whitby Development and Steering Committee (DWDSC)
Hired by the DWDSC to research the best business association to implement, why the previous attempts to do so failed, and how to perform an effective implementation. My team's objective was to answer these questions by gathering primary data directly from over 200 local business owners. Specific Contributions:
- Interviewed > 200 business owners and documented their perspectives on the association.
- Simplified the concerns into quantifiable data, which was reorganized to display which issues have resolution priority.
- Designed execution plan to ensure the best use of our resources.
- Presented findings to public in a logical, concise manner.
