Why is entrepreneurship considered risky?
In a world of ever increasing business ($ value), the number of companies is decreasing due to industry juggernauts (I'm looking at you, Amazon) expanding incredibly quickly combined with the taught mentality that employment is the 'safe' path forward. Here are my two questions with this:
What happens during an economic downturn?
When there are so many brilliant people, why do they not believe in their own skill enough to go out on their own?
An owner won't fire themselves but your company will fire you if they need to. Additionally, since every company reports to someone (owner, shareholders, creditors), they will always be looking to squeeze the most productivity out of the employees. All of you brilliant people need to get onto the other side of the fence!
The world does not have enough leaders, and due to efficiency increases, it's losing jobs. Eventually, people will embrace an entrepreneurial lifestyle culture. Your goal should not be to turn every venture into the next Google, it should be to build a legacy that is completely your own. It may be more work, but the end result will be worth it.
